Living in Australia

Australia has one of the highest standards of living in the world. Australia offers a superb climate, a unique and beautiful environment, and a well developed multicultural society. Australia has the third lowest cost of living in the major developed world, behind only USA and New Zealand . Australia is one of the most urbanized countries in the world. Five of Australia 's mainland capital cities have been ranked in the top eleven most livable cities in the world. Melbourne has also been rated as the best city in the world to relocate by The Economist.

In NEWSWEEK's first-ever Best Countries special issue, they set out to answer a question that is at once simple and incredibly complex,if you were born today, which country would provide you the very best opportunity to live a healthy, safe, reasonably prosperous, and upwardly mobile life?

For this special survey, NEWSWEEK chose five categories of national well-being—education, health, quality of life, economic competitiveness, and political environment—and compiled metrics within these categories across 100 nations. A weighted formula yielded an overall list of the world’s top 100 countries.  Australia was ranked fourth best in the world!

 

Melbourne has been rated as the second best city for men to live in, outranked only by New York.

The poll, by men's website Askmen.com ranked 29 cities across the globe based on how good they were for men to live, work and play.

Economy:
Australia has had one of the most outstanding economies of the world in recent years. As a high-growth, low-inflation, low interest rate economy with its abundant physical resources, it is more vibrant than ever before. There is an efficient government sector, a flexible labor market and a very competitive business sector.

Wages in Australia:
The average wage has risen to more than $1,000 per week. Skilled people can earn considerably more.

A True Welfare State

First Home Owner Grant from the Government:
Any Australian buying a house in Australia for the first time (including migrants with permanent residence) is eligible for the First Home Owner Grant, worth A$7,000 upto A$21000.


Health care & Education:
